Anyone on here got one? I am curious about your thoughts on this camera. Seems like a nice "every day carry" type of camera that could well do the keen amateur for 90% of the time.

I have the Leica equivalent. Absolutely stunning camera. I use it nearly everyday. Highly recommended.

Wonder if there is much difference? I am guessing its all in the Software, but this is good to hear.

I am looking to just consolidate or reduce down to a camera with a lens and thats it. So have been looking at these as they have a decent size sensor (though the crop to 12.7MP is a little concerning) and appear to have a good lens on them.

I could keep my NEX-6 (though desperately want to replace it with something as I just hate the interface and the UI. I hate using it) and buy something like the Ziess 16-70 mm F4 as the go to lens. The LX has a F1.7-2.8 range on its 24-75mm? so probably would create a similar DoF. Its just the MP count. I know MP isn't everything and I have had some of my best looking pictures come from a 10MP Canon 400D, but at 16 in the NEX-6 I have felt that I didn't want to go any lower now.

By DPReviews test the ISO noise is very similar to the NEX-6 which is a tad disappointing really given I find the NEX-6 is too noisy much past 1600.

Gonna have a look on PixelPeeper at some sample images.

Have a look at my flickr page. www.flickr.com/chrisharrisonphoto

I've edited most of the images in lightroom.

For what you are considering it might be worthwhile taking a look at one of the many reviews comparing the Panasonic LX100, Sony RX100 3 and the Canon G7 X, link is http://www.trustedreviews.com/opinions/sony-rx100-...

If you're looking for a camera to put in your pocket then the LX100 is perhaps rather bulky compared to the Canon and Sony, the dilemma then of course is that once you decide to buy a larger camera, do you go the whole hog and buy a small bodied DSLR such as the Canon 100D...!!! Review between the LX100 and the 100D is: http://cameradecision.com/compare/Panasonic-Lumix-...

If it's any consolation I'm been going round and round for several months now asking myself similar questions as to which camera would be best to add alongside or replace my RX100 MK1, and am pulled between the RX100 MK3, or between Canon 100D and the 700D (which is physically larger but has a better battery life, better auto-focus system, etc), or go to the next level and purchase the 760D which would be a whole lot better, but then it costs substantially more.... arghhh!!! decisions... decisions...

And as a footnote, I nearly purchased a 100D on Tuesday from JW except the shops were playing silly sods with the pricing, which went up £30 between me looking at the web price in the morning and shopping in the afternoon, so thanks to the cosy price matching JW, Jessops and PC World cartel I walked away from the purchase, and instead looked at www.digitalrev.com which is currently offering a 700D for the same money as a 100D from the likes of big three.

Corrected for typo error!

I owned one for a couple of weeks before returning it. Few reasons. First, the image quality didn't live up to expectations. The jpg quality was poor with overactive noise reduction smeering detail even at low iso. Raw was fine but none of my usual programs would support the raw files so I would have to convert to dng first which was annoying. I imagine this isn't an issue now though.

The camera was ok to use but I didn't think much of the evf. The rear screen wasn't great either.

This coming from a Nikon d7000 looking for a decent small camera. The lx100 isn't small either.

If you think the size is acceptable for an every day camera, then yes I can recommend it.

However, most people would recommend the smaller RX100-1/2/3/4 camera which is easy to carry "everywhere"
