Anybody done this? We'd like to mount my OH's uni blades, preferably in a cross pattern, but the brackets would ideally be nice and discreet unlike some of the suggestions I've come across through Googling for ideas. They're at least 12'long by the way.

I presume you aren't willing to put a screw through them.

If not then I'd put a screw close to them and wrap wire around it and the blades.

Drill a hole in the back of them for a wooden dowel to allow it to fix to the wall behind? Or as said, wire would definitely work!

Is this just the blade bit or are they complete?
Screw Rowlocks to the wall and mount them to that.

Any chance of a picture or Google image of something simlar?

I think the mounts for mine are effectively curtain holders turned 90 degrees?? Not sure as Mrs Madness decided to put it up (when I say that I mean pay someone else to put it up) as a present for me.

Cable ties. Is someone rally going to view them from close-up?

You really do not want to destroy the blades by drilling

A large curtain holder to support the loom (where it is narrow) by the spoon, and a peg for the blade to sit on where they cross. Need to get your C of G right.

Hmm... plenty to think about there. The last idea appeals the most so far.

Thanks

How about using gas/water pipe support wall brackets, lots of styles and materials available, could be painted to match colour of oar & wall so that they appear to be free hanging

Thread resurrection etc.

Think the OP is still active.

Did you ever come up with a solution? Any pictures?

Have a similar problem, and whilst "crossed" was my first thought, I wonder if one above the other (opposite handed) would be neater, as they would sit tighter to the wall.

Hi. I used these as recommended above https://www.colglo.co.uk/product.php?product=CLIPA...

Unfortunately I can’t take a photo of the blades in place as I took them down in preparation for a house move. The brackets worked perfectly though and I just used a bit of foam below each narrow end of the blades to pack them out a little.

I am not sure that the university bar look would work that well in a house ?

Could be worse; people dress their home up with all that 'live, laugh, love' crap, at least a pair of sculls is a conversation starter.
