The trend that I hope dies, are people slating other people's likes, I'm not an SUV fan but I can't hate someone because they don't like what I do.

To be honest I get inspiration from different trends so I hope the diversity stays.

The overwhelming negativity for Audi on PH ... Some make out like having one is like having a communicable disease ... Pathetic

Renault R-SoundEffect, and the other alternatives. Basically, fake engine noises through speakers in the car.

Pathetic.
I think this could be quite amusing if the options went from lawn mower to fighter jet.

If I could have this in my diesel 1 series it would brighten things up a little. Having fake exhaust sounds in a car which should be creating its own is just wrong.

Sat nav's where the speedo should be. Never mind that, digital speedo and simulated rev counters.
I think well-executed ones are ok (Lexus LFA?) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AItzeT0J7pw

But are they?

They have been made vastly more efficient, vastly more powerful and powerful N/A engines with a manual box still exist.

Ask an engine designer.

WHITE PAINT.....that is for commercials and competition cars AKA like a white sheet of paper for text

BLACK WHEELS.....looks hedious, like its got 5 years of brake dust and if you are one of those who want big rims and tyres with the same profile thickness of smart phone....well you cant see it because there is no contrast.

HUGE RIMs with skinny tyres on FWD diesel shopping trolleys...pointless expensive and less forgiving for the suspension and ride...my mother in not interested about and extra 2mph round a corner, however comfort cost and kerbed rims are.

AUDI's why people think they have bought into a acceptable middle class motoring.
Basically in most cases the cars are overpriced and reliability after once out of warranty ...shocking.... cars for clones....and dull in most cases.Staggering in the fact that people will buy a beaten up high mileage example instead of low say 1 owner mint Ford for the same money...just be in lacking in imagination Audi club...dohh..which is less reliable and more costly to fix. Leaders start fashions then when people have similar move and start a new one....Sheep follow and that is why most Audi's are white with black hooves.

THE IMPRESSION German motors are best once the mark of qaulity now the mark of clever marketing..

THE LOVE FOR DIESEL....It just needs to stop
Narrow powerband and tractor noises and now overcomplicated to get around emissions

On the other hand, from a North American perspective, they are moving to smaller cars.

Modern vehicles are designed for global markets, so get used to it.

Go to a bodyshop and ask for "white paint" - theres probably 10,000 shades out there. Not all of them fit for commercials...

Its a bit of a fad, but unlike spinners is easily changed. I recently did the wheels on my silver car Alfa metallic grey. I like it, I dont care what anyone else thinks....

Are we talking modified or standard equipment?

I can't agree with you on this one, my wife always liked the look of a TT, we have had it for 3 years and its been routine service and a few items you would expect to wear at 70k. No worse or better than marques of similar cost.

Sadly again, I have a 325i Touring and apart from a few things the previous owner had let slide, its been a great drive. Just over 100k and rattle free, smooth and does the job. And its RWD.... smile

I sort of agree with you on this, though if youre doing over 30k a year they do make sense financially.

I used to mix paint for a living and spanners and sale.
Many many colours of white but it crap uninteresting colour and rarely shows cars well.

RIM...Standard rims do not need to be so big on run on mill stuff. And they often dont make them faster on lap times on quick stuff, sometimes slower, o.k bigger stoppers can be had.

Black Wheels...when cars used to come with steel wheels and trsim the wheels were black...it looks like somebody lost the trims. Again they hardly sparkle or show contrast and look crap like brake dust in my view ....however again its another fashion thing you would not have seen 10 years ago...Fashion is not always right...like Don Johnson white shoes...Mullets...Flares.

RumRunner is having a right 'mare!! biggrin

Surely car trends that you hope die are ones that stop you from being able to buy what you want, not options that are not your preference?

The UKs unjust love of all things diesel is one, means I can't buy the two cars I would buy new with a petrol engine currently.

Mercedes insisting on options 'packages' is another, want the ambient lighting (€265 euro in Germany where options tend to cost a bit more than here) and it will cost you £3450 as you have to have pano roof, keyless go, comand nav as well. Sure offer packs, but don't take away the individual options even if you charge more for them.

But different colour paint and wheel options doesn't wind me up, that person obviously prefers them, which is fine.

But is it any worse than when people bought red cars because all the images of Ferraris where always red?

Red is another colour that is just a fashion victim colour as the car always looks better in another shade.
