People really don't understand how much grip you lose when the road temps drop

I'm calling bullst about the railing bit. I guess the Sun reading a random person's FB post is as good a reliable source these days...

I've garaged my Elise temporarily for this reason. It's got slightly old tyres on. Plenty of tread, when I picked it up two months ago it was fine. This last couple of weeks it is just scary- you never knew if you were going to turn a wheel and suddenly have nothing there.

Also, nice of The Sun's coverage of the article to include more graphic details. Very tasteful.

Looks like it's true judging from the pics of the other car here http://newsyarn.com/six-people-injured-after-ferra...

Why do newspapers like "The Sun" have a weird obsession with the price of things? Like the RRP of the car made a difference to the events occuring. Mention it once if you feel the need, but Jesus they have some fascination with expensive things and price tags.

I assume he means it's a Speciale and not a Scuderia which was based on the 430.

Hand your card in! hehe

Here's the railings showing the drop to the road below. Not as dramatic as the soundbite makes it out but nevertheless very nasty. Fortunately landing on the car probably broke his fall to some extent.

He's got a point though. There is an irritating tendency to shorten words into a type of jargon, often including model number designations, which can be confusing to anyone at less-than-ninja levels of arcane motoring awareness.

Either way it's soap on a rope time.

Possibly. Hopefully the victims get to walk away with nothing long lasting

On the topic of grip levels being so much lower in cold (and damp) weather. Do scuderias (speciales?) come on track day / circuit biased tyres?

Hate seeing incidents like this. I know accidents happen and I enjoy a spirited drive, but terrible to see others getting tangled up in a drivers accident (I appreciate we don't know the details, but you'd have to suspect the car has mounted the pavement due to a driver error). Hope none are too badly hurt.

Because this is going to be all about some "rich w****r" driving his "pe**s replacement" at "high speed".... The jealous factor is high.

I just hope people are ok. I wonder if the driver just did a "watch this" moment and lost the rear in the cold/damp.

Hadn't seen the photo of the car with the smashed rear window!

Still the press do love to over sensualise everything...

Hopefully all injured recover quickly.
