So, in December I decided I was done with mundane if relative flawless service of my Audi A6 Avant, I already have a 1997 Toyota Chaser, so wanted something newer....but JDM and Estate, so after looking at Stageas (rusty) then Evo wagons (expensive) I stumbled upon the Crown Athlete stuff, whilst looking for a suitable one, I got contacted by an importer who had a 02 Blit wagon, in white.

Since it was lockdown, some emails and calls happened and I purchased car without seeing it, which was a tad sketchy, the spec of the car was as follows,
Toyota JZX110 IR-V Mark II Blit Fortuna Edition
Automatic 1jz-gte engine
18 inch BBS Alloys, staggered tyres, unnkown off set, and yes there real ones.
Cusco coilovers.
Blit Storage box
Usual JDM audio/tv/ sat nav

Also had a Fujisubo Legalis exhaust.
I wanted a cat on the car as its my daily and gets used 40 miles a day. Heres some more original pics

I ordered some new Yokos as the MOT highlighted all tyres cracked and luckily the howling noise from the rear on the trip home which I thought was the wheel bearing was cured by tyres!! Winner 👍

After using it for a couple of months, and promising myself i wouldn't mod it, and only fixing a bust headlight, I started planning future proofing it and making her handle a bit better, after all she is nearly 19 years old.

After using the car and listening to jpop or radio 4 for as long as I thought it was funny, I bought a Sony double din unit with a reverse camera and android auto, upon fitting this found the usual jap import rats nest

New headunit in..

I also found I had uprated if old Clarions in the front doors, which sound great to be honest.
I fitted a K&N drop in filter.

After using the car it started develping a missfire, I ordered a set of spark plugs and NGK power coil pack leads as well as coil pack clips which Im guessing would be dust. Turns out the spark plugs were kind of buggered 😳

Turns out I thought the auto gearbox was lazy but the soark plugs restored all power, tho the box is old tech, but as long as you know and understand how it delivers the power is easy to live with.

I bought a personal plate too, a first for me

Since then I've developed a exhaust leak from the front cat gasket and had every shocker make noises, all but the drivers one went quiet with use and a genourus proportion of lube.

So this is the state of play as the 2nd, this last 2 weeks I've collected a ton of parts so if you guys want I can continue to update you all and if anybody in the 1JZ/JZX110 Blit community needs any advice or chat hit me up.

Thanks man....scene up the rims?? To be honest Im not a BBS fan but would like to go darker when I get them refurbed.

I have collected the last 2 months some upgrades/preventive maintenance items to improve future proof the car.

A Mishimoto ally rad which obviously means Ive had to buy an external ATF cooler, which I hope to for in the OE intercooler space, while I'm there ill replace the timing belt too. Also have sone nice new Toyota Type IV to put in.

Ive got BC BR coliovers with 14/12 custom spring rates, to replace my noisy Cusco units which look a good few years old, new front upper arms which I have got uprated bushes for, Ive gone for the yellow spec less harsh bushes, also bought new lower ball joints and track rod ends just for my peace of mind.

Ive also got uprated steering rack bushes and d bush, again the less harsh ones for road use. Odered some Garage D RCA'S to accommodate my LS400 calipers as im not a big fan of the current brake set up. I have these on my Chaser so will order K Sports for that as my goals have changed.

Ive also ordered a Cusco front upper strut bar and both anti roll bars, also Cusco.

The cars booked in to have a back box delete on the 20th march, mainly to let a bit more of the 1jz noise out. Can't decide wether to go for a droop tip (ha ha) or a twin style such as a shotgun or twin tailpipe design.

Something like this maybe???

Ive also got a BOV delete plate for choo choo noises, which should be the last of any engine mods I do, tho I may put my hybrid CT15 on as I want a top mount set up on the Chaser. Again only standard boost will be used on the Blit and the hybrid will only be going on as its seen very little use.

I'd like an OE torsion LSD but my contact for one seems to now want 800 plus becsuse the Irish drift scene says so, I could go for a GT86 unit but id ideally like the ssme ratio, I can't remember my ratio bug itd the stsndard open diff (3.9)?? And the 86 one is 4.1??

I have bought Focal from and rear speakers and z Kenwood active underseat sub to give it some oommfff.

Hopefully will enjoy the car this summer, getting a few paintwork issues sorted , then build my funds up gor any Bush or rear suspension upgrades in the autumn.

This weekend i took out the center conslle to clean and further sort some rogue wiring, also took this chsnce to remove the toll resder, stripped my combi meter plastic to polish out some marks and fitted a cheap GPS speedo (for the wife).

Will keep you all posted in the car when and as I fit stuff (presuming anybody reads this ha ha)

What a properly interesting item. Didn't realise estates came with a JZ engine. For almost 2 decades old, it looks pretty fresh.

Looks great. I think a dolphin tip style exhaust would look good?

Its above average, got some small paint issues to deal with, I was originally looking at Crown Athlete Estates but this came up at a decent price.

The suspension is straight off an IS200 so parts are a bit more readily available over the Chaser.

I was a bit hesitant over the auto at first being a 4 speed, but turns out it's nothing to be concerned about, sits about 2600 rpm at 70 though its just on the cusp/in boost so can be thirsty...

Thanks for the kind words..

Small update, my RCAs turned up

And I put my car on the ramp to fix the exhaust blow between the cat and front pipe, gasket was 8 quid from ebay and looks like the exhaust had a decat in japan...

I also took off the engine tray to inspect the lower block for the first time, not a single leak. Proper happy cool

Just waiting for a few bits before I rebuild the front suspension....

Exhaust back box is still something i cant decide on...

As a looooong time import owner, Im always in awe of how bad the wiring in Japanese wiring is, considering how technologically advanced the country is biggrin Those spark plugs, Jesus!!

I know....all my imports have been like this..my RX7 had 6 subs wired in badly, I've removed 24.....yes 24 LED footwell lights from the Blit.

Its become like a mini project which has put the Chaser on the backburner a bit while I collect the bits for a big power street build on that.

No way.....I had a Trueno and still regret selling it...

I'll never grow out of being a JDM kid, and seen as I get to play with M Power cars all day, I love playing with my jap stuff at weekends, 19 years as a Tech/Workshop Controller @ Toyota probably doomed me to a life of 90s/early 2000s parts scattered around me..

I notice on the bootlid either side of the number plate, you have what looks like a reverse light and a foglight? Do they come like that in Japan as thought they don't usually have rear foglights or is it a mod you have carried out?

The first of my hoses showed up today, ive been brave and gone for a bit of colour

I've also forgotten to mention, I have a normal style handbrake conversion....which originally was a foot pedel type, sooo

Offered up my Works but don't think they'll fit..
I measured the BBS's and think they're 9.5 front and 10 rear, offsets unknown....I will look one time when I take the wheel off again.

Need to pick up my new front lower ball joints and steering track rod ends up today, 67 quid for the lot, decent ones with 3 year warranty too. My mate works at Euros so #discount

Just hopefully get everything fitted soon..but Ive got quite a bit to do...
