LED Steering wheel issues (M140)

Hi Everyone,
I have just fitted a genuine Mperf LED wheel to my M140. When i turn the ignition on the wheel sweeps then stops working. When it has done this and I get out to lock the car the car beeps three times then unlocks again. Eventually it does lock as normal.
Oddly I went out in the car on saturday night and the Wheel functioned properly and the car locked fine. Then Sunday morning it wasn't working again. I then realised the wheel only works when the lights are switched on, hence it not working during the day.
Can anyone shed any light on what this might be? Could I have tapped into the incorrect wire in the door loom?
