I bought a series X about 6mths ago after a fairly long hiatus. Having issues finding games I like as I don’t ‘do’ online gaming and seems every new gen game has more and more online content.

I like a good driving game for short sessions. Have got the new Forza and FH5. Downloaded dirt 2 last week which I’m not gelling with on the account of me being rubbish. One crash and that’s the stage ruined, no rewinds!

I like a good sandbox or big map solo adventure. Far cry, sniper elite types. As in not so big they weren’t finished properly before release, that don’t force a particular style of play. Downloaded battlefield 5 which was exactly my kind of game, just too short for single player, finished it in a few evenings play.

Never played anything like Skyrim but also don’t think they’ll be my bag. Same with fallout.

Lastly any zombie or horror type Blast em ups aren’t my thing either.

Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for games I might like. Doesn’t have to be amazing graphics, I only bought the x as my one broke. Happy to expand beyond my admittedly limited range of titles. Only real firm point would be no online content, I just cba’d with it tbh.

You might want to sign up to Game Pass for a month or so (think they are doing the £1 first month offer again), its cancellable at any time and you'll get access to the library. They just added Far Cry 6, Rise of the Tomb Raider (very good!) which both meet your needs, the smaller "Indie" games are also excellent and its one of the benefits of just having the full library available! Arcade Paradise took up a huge chunk of my gaming time before Xmas for such a simple game/concept. You can experiment a bit and see if other genres work for you as well.

The Ultimate pass also gives you a chunk of the EA Play library so most of the Battlefields are on there as well. If you find something you like you can buy at a reduced price for a log term keeper.

Same boat, after years of not having time to play any games. Bought a new xbox and gamepass.

So far Ive enjoyed;

Firewatch
Starfield
Mass effect
Hell let loose (its online, which like you I dont usually do. But there something about this game thats just different)
Forza Motorport (not enough tracks to keep intrested tbh)

Im excited to play the Robocop game & new Alan Wake next.

The game pass is great, as you can just try a few games until you find one that keeps your intrest.

Some good suggestions already, Firewatch was an excellent little indie game.

Although it was certainly released with issues, Cyberpunk 2077 in it's current patched form is excellent and sounds exactly like what you're looking for. Single player, massive, can take whatever approach you like.

I think Gamepass is worth a shout especially for the smaller single player games. Stray (you play a cat in a futuristic city) and Inside are both on there and very good.

Forza Horizon 4 is good fun in that you get to hoon around familiar countryside, Edinburgh, Glenfinnan, Cotswolds, Lakes etc.

Definetly get the game pass. Can get a bash at all sorts of games.

I bounce between the new Forza (disappointing) and Snowrunner (more addictive than it should be).

Occasionally fire up GTA or Rocket League.

thanks so far. i might try gamepass. is that free with xbox gold? i used to have that to do coop missions on sniper elite with a mate, but he lives in a totally different timezone now so i let it lapse. might rejoin if a PH forza lobby gets set up.

i think my main issue is that i've never really been a 'proper' gamer. so things like cyberpunk strike me as being an rpg and something to avoid. i guess ive tended to only play the big releases in my preferred group [gta, red dead, sniper elite, far cry types] intensively once through each then never play them again, and use forza for time killing.

Snowrunner appears to be PC only.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and the sequel Survivor, are definitely worth a look. Was sceptical but loves Fallen Order and now that I have a Series X loving Survivor.

Alan Wake 2 was the best game out last year for me, but although it's not a total dealbreaker, you'd be better off having played the original Alan Wake first (which is also superb clap). Ideally Control as well, which is also excellent. Anything made by Remedy really laugh

Hell Let Loose.

Wow, how did it take me so long to find this? I absolutely love it. It could have been made for me. WW2, huge maps, tactical, atmospheric, beautiful, tense. Potentially best game ever in my book - and I don’t like online FPS much.

Nope it’s available on Xbox and it is weirdly compelling.

Far cry is an rpg so if you liked that you’d like similar games surely? I loved the far cry games, haven’t tried cyberpunk yet but am currently playing Witcher 3. It’s amazing.

Any Lego game, but particularly Lego Star Wars Skywalker Saga. It’s ridiculously addictive.

Another vote for Cyberpunk, whilst I didn't have issues with it on release the latest patches and DLC are very good.

I've been rather addicted to Dredge, which is a Lovecraftian fishing game. It's more creepy that scary so still pretty relaxing, and the disc only cost £20

Went to buy snow runner from the Xbox store but cyberpunk was on sale for $30, so downloaded that instead. Will give it a whirl!

I tried a demo of this on the Switch and I agree it seemed really good, very original.
