Anyone familiar with/service these? Our local firm has been bought out and the newer, large outfit kindly did an "audit" of the system, no charge to us you understand, and surprise they have "found" a bundle of things they recommend upgrading.
The system is linked to the parent system of the landlord and I'm sure they would have been very keen to insist we change things had that actually been necessary so I'm keen to see what actually needs doing, I appreciate regs change and even for the better sometimes.
This however seems a complete business generator on the new companies part and I'm not playing.

If your current system was installed properly to the old regs it is grandfathered in and doesn't need upgraded, but some of the upgrades do make a lot of sense and the updates have been written in the blood of previous shortcomings .
What is very common is systems have been shoddily installed and signed off anyway by the people who done it.
What is your appetite for winging it? You can leave as is, or pay to have a smaller local bafe accredited third party check it over and give recommendations and an estimate. If they concur with the big national then its down to price and who you trust, or they might come back and say the big national is taking the piss and it only needs one or 2 remedials.

Watch out for being locked in to a specific ecosystem with this sort of thing.

Got caught out with one of our buildings where, from what I was told, the installer seemed to have us over a barrel unless we wanted to rip it out and replace it. If I remember correctly, it was more complex/locked in than you usually get with burglar alarm systems.
