Let the games begin!

Obviously won't be as popular as the men's but I like it and I'm sure some others on here do as well so up for some chat!

Some of the women’s games are better than the men’s to watch I find, they don’t have the same size/bulk power mismatch usually so can be more open with more passing and looking for space and using the skills rather than a 20 stone unit just looking to smash into another player.

Always a quicker game that is played.

I'm a big fan of the Roses and have watched them for quite some time, but its clear they haven't played as a team for a while. Pretty scrappy start so far.

Obviously i'm biased, but I feel that's quite a harsh red card

Hmm, I can sort of see the arguments for both sides. But overall yes, not sure it was a red.

England look so rusty and almost nervous. Wonder if there is too much 'trying to impress the new coach' in a match situation, especially as the talent and competition for places in the team is just ridiculous.

Time to start motoring. Italian defence doing well though tbh.

Overall not the best 40 minutes I've seen them play, not by a long shot. But not the worst either.

My take on the game:

Firstly well done ladies, solid start. No matter what a 48-0 victory can never be sniffed at. England really quite rusty with basic errors costing the team, but these are easy to work on and fix.

Holly Aitchison needs to start at 10. Really feel this is the future for England and the way she plays. Created 2 tries within 5 minutes of coming on when she found herself in the first receiver position. Nothing again Zoe Harrison at all, but the entire England attacking atmosphere changed the moment Aitchison came on.

Yes Ellie K won player of the match and no issues there, but as usual I thought the most solid player for England has also been our most consistent the last couple of years. Abbie Dow. Without exaggerating she doesn't miss a single tackle, manages to beat the first defender every time and also is more than adept at rucking/mauling in both an attacking and defensive situation. Also really impressed with Abbie Ward in her first game back after her pregnancy.

Bring on next weekend !!

I think World Rugby recently (last week?) issue some new, stricter, guidance over the "croc" roll clear out. So probably unlucky as if it happen in a few weeks time they'd have stopped reffing it...

Phase 2: Law amendment recommendations for global adoption
Law amendments will be discussed and agreed at the World Rugby Council on 9 May. They will look at changes to some current laws:

• Law 10 in relation to players being put onside when there are kicks in open play, as per the current Super Rugby Pacific trial which aims to reduce kick tennis.
• Removal of the scrum option from a free-kick at a scrum, reducing dead time.
• Outlawing the practice of the ‘croc roll’, reinforcing player welfare focus

Been handed a 3 week ban and will be eligible for the last game v France.
