Any reason you need such a giant one? MSC do a variety. What are you countersinking? Unless it's quite exotic chinesium ones are probably fine for hobby use.

Just because something is produced in China does not make it rubbish, if this was the case you would own nothing. I can guess that 90% of the stuff you own will have parts produced in China.

What do you use a countersink for and why do you feel the need for premium brand stuff if it's just for the occasional DIY use. If you are running a machine shop you will already know where to buy quality tooling at a sensible price.

Dormer are good quality, but not really necessary for the odd bit of DIY.

Tracey Tools are always a good place to start https://www.tracytools.com/product-category/counte...

It does amuse me how people refer to Chinese rubbish whilst typing on their iPhone:-)

However, there does seem to be a race to the bottom om amazon and its either cheap tat or ludicrously expensive quality with little middle ground.

The easy answer find a proper supplier who has been in game for years, like the one I listed. Not just for this but for anything after all it will be the same price as ebay or amazon for the same product without the risk of being sent tat you thought was OK. Most won't offer the delivery that amazon do though so if getting it tomorrow and throwing it away next weekend is your thing then buy cheapest on Amazon or ebay.

If it's on Amazon and cheapy cheapy from a phantom brand then usually it is awful quality in my experience.

Even you must realise that there is an awful lot of Chinese st on the market,

It’s all down to quality control at the end of the day and manufacturer specifications.

Oh I know, I have a place I go to locally that just sells hardware (nuts bolts etc) and all the associated tools - I use them all the time. They still write receipts on the paper casette thing in a metal case that you tear off and then pull the next one through :-)
