996 Specialist recommendations?

Who retails nice 996s these days? Many specialists tend to only sell later stuff it would appear, but I'm new to the market.

Friends Green Porsche have been a big seller of 996 in the last few years and have pushed the market value IMO. They are also quite open from what I can see in the level of prep for each car before sale. There are also others such as Portiacraft and Philip Raby (no affiliation to any mentioned btw).

In this sector of the market you also need to ask the dealers if they actually own the cars or if they are on "sale or return" as a dealer who owns a car is normally more motivated to sell than one who is selling someone else's car and has no finance charges for having it sat unsold in their showroom. Cars of this age can also require quite a lot of sales preparation and this is becoming the limiting factor for some and why they are not selling them anymore as their is not the margin in the sale which is why 911virgin don't sell as many now.

Portiacraft do some nice 996's and they offer a good warranty package with the added reassurance of a fixed price £4000 engine rebuild for as long as you own the car if it needs doing for bore score or IMS.

That's pretty good for peace of mind.

Thanks all, normally I buy cars privately, but with all the worry of bore score and IMS issues etc, plus the general specialist nature of them, it might be prudent to pay full retail at a speicalist for peace of mind, as long as the prep levels are appropriate with price.

I've just read the Hartech buyers guide which references cars they sell, do they still retail cars, as their website doesn't appear to show cars for sale?

I called them a few years ago and asked. They said something about a list of interested parties they contact if they know of something coming up for sale. I never heard back from them. So I'd assume they are busy enough and just can't be bothered. Why get into car sales if you are busy with engines and services. Stick to core business.

That car has been for sale for a while. But the heading didn't say Hartech Engine before. And the description just talks about Hartech for servicing.

It’s also got 200cc to many😃
There are no manual 3.4 coupe with hartech for sale.

Wowsers. That's impressive. I had a look on their site and sales prices aren't bad. I guess you'd have to get the servicing done by them every year etc?
