Hi, I know this is an old topic, but even though I’ve owned my griff for 5 years I’ve never needed to know, until now!

Was due to take my griff to my local car electrical guy this morning to sort a central locking fault. However, when I’ve got in to drive it over there today the battery is completely dead. Have a spare battery I maybe able to jump start it with but my lead for the Anderson connector is in the boot. With now electrical power release button won’t work of course. Can some one please DM me please and let me know the secret of manually release the boot. If anyone is worried about security I can do copy of my v5 or pics of me with car in garage or whatever to prove I’m not a thief!

The battery is in the footwell. You don’t need to open the boot, just attach the jump leads to the battery.

Thanks, but leads are in the boot, and set I have fit the Anderson connector.

Car is in garage too at present, it’s a tight fit, see pic in link below, be very difficult to get to the battery itself even if I had standard leads!

just for the sake of opening the boot could the bonnet be opened and a positive lead be attached to the back of the alternator and earth to any earth point?

Could do yea, but i haven’t any jump leads except the ones with the Anderson connector in the boot! My wife is at work in our other car so can’t even go get another set as nearest place I could get some is miles away!

Just need someone to direct message me as to how I get in to the boot manually!

12v to the alt B+ cable the big one and earth/ground alt body then turn ign on and spring boot , do not crank engine however

As no-one will tell you the secret squirrel answer on the forum.

I would suggest..............

Assuming the drivers door can be opened.

Push the car out of the garage

Open the passenger door and swap the battery over..(or jury rig a short length of any cable between the batteries just to trigger the boot release).

Thanks, bit tricky doing that on my own!

Don’t know why someone just can DM me and let me into the secret!

Referred to my Steve Heath “bible”, that tells you how to release it, but when I tried that the thing that he says is there isn’t there???

My owners handbook makes no mention either?

How as a genuine owner am I supposed find out how to operate my own car? Frustrating!

My 1996 car had a secret method to open the drivers door but not anything for the boot lid until I rigged something.

Well the reason people don't wanted posted on an openly searchable forum is as when driving a convertable the only place to secure your valuables is in the boot. Telling all and sundry how to easily access that isn't ideal.

Is that not what an alarm is for? Mine has a boot lid switch to trigger the alarm. If a thief wants to get into your boot space they would probably just use a crow bar or even just steal the whole car. A thief would not have any compassion not to damage the car. Time would be the most important thing to them.

Mine hasn't, nor has the bonnet (it's a 1999 car). And unfortunately, due to their age and frailties (the alarms that is!), many owners have bypassed theirs. The TVR community on here usually help each other, not divulge how to get in them on a public forum where anybody can read the threads without joining or logging in.

I replaced mine when it became faulty, but it remains the fact that only forcing open the doors would trigger the alarm, but the immobiliser would ensure the whole car couldn't be started. My 2000 reg Chimaera had a trigger switch on the bonnet; it was late 1999 that the Meta T2 alarms and immobilisers became more commonly used.

Who said you need jump leads? couple of lengths of wire from an old mains ext lead would do , like I say your not cranking so no current demands to speak of , even the FP will only drop small amps for a few seconds
