As title, there is currenty a competition on Heart FM whereby a random number is selected from everyone that texts in to enter, they then have to choose between the daily amount offered or to go into the draw to win a million pounds, the daily amount offered can be anywhere between £1k and £18k (highest amount I have heard them offer), the comp runs for the month of Apri with the draw being held in May for the £1m, at present there is only 18 people in for the £1m draw.
What amount would be your cut off point to let the daily amount go and be entered ito the £1m draw?

These are the amounts the 18 so far have turned down.....
Lucy Ottley | Hampshire | Turned down £4,000
Nicola Kelly-Grostephen | Manchester | Turned down £4,000
Edyta Chester | Manchester | Turned down £6,000
Martin Bunney | Norfolk | Turned down £12,000
Bobby Begg | Sunderland | Turned down £3,000
Chelsea Leith | London | Turned down £3,000
Angela Jones | Halifax | Turned down £5,000
Bethany Fuller | Bolton | Turned down £4,000
Sammy Hayes | Colchester | Turned down £4,000
Geraldine Atkinson | Surrey | Turned down £9,000
Jake Harrison | Bristol | Turned down £4,000
Donna Lord | Kent | Turned down £3,000
Donna White | Peterborough | Turned down £3,000
Dan Brooks | Kent | Turned down £9,000
Richard Kidd | West Sussex | Turned down £5,000
Nicole Brookes | Somerset | Turned down £5,000
Charlotte Smith | Bognor Regis | Turned down £6,000

I know most on here are PBD's but easy money (if your text was chosen) or £0 with a 1 in 18 (currently) chance to win a million??

About £2k to be honest. And even then the £2k would be tempting. Rather 100% of a little than a relatively small chance of a lot.

You missed out the fact you have to listen virtually all day on Heart FM to hear the 'millionaire song' which can play ANY TIME between 8:00am and 4:00pm!
1 min of Amanda Holden would be too much for me! LOL
When you hear it you text WIN and the name of the artist to the number given.

You also omitted (like so many other radio stations doing win a fortune competitions every day, eg Greatest Hits Radio 'make me a winner' and all the other ones) that each Text cost £2 plus your standard network rate. On the Heart one, once the song starts - can be anytime between 8 and 4 as said, you have 10 minutes to enter, if you text after that – you won't be entered BUT you may still be charged. LOL
Mug's game gambling. And that is exactly what it is.

What would the point be of spending £1m+ on a competition that did nothing to listening figures? confused

If you assume that most people will take the chance and that there might be 25 to 50 people in the draw in total then your expected gain from playing is £20,000 to £40,000 so I wouldn’t take the £18,000.

I suppose it depends on how much you’re already worth? For me I’d take anything over £10k.

The downside is by listening to Heart, you have to suffer Lewis Capaldi on almost endless loop so will probably have topped yourself before getting the chance to text in.

I work with a guy who’s obsessed with texting these competitions, not a pot to pee in but will happily spend £50 a week on them.

He has never had the call, but does share his name with someone on that list.

His wife turned up at work one day as she had heard he had refused 9k, she was going mental, lol.

I'd take whatever was offered, even a couple of £k would be nice and we could treat ourselves to a holiday or do something with the house.

Never gonna happen though, listening to Heart is utterly soul destroying. We used to endure it in the office until the radio one day mysteriously stopped working whistle - forget groundhog day, it was more like groundhog hour. Complete lack of variety on the playlist and the presenters must be on some sort of drug, no group of people can be that upbeat and happy 24/7.

About £5k, which is what I'm short to build the garden home office / bike shed of my dreams.

Of course, £1m would be lovely, life changing and certainly more F Y Money than I'd ever need, but 18/1 are pretty long odd, I imagine one of those weird dices they use for Dungeons and Dragons, 18 sides and you've got a single roll to get a specific number. I'll take the shed thanks.

Make me a winner on Planet Rock. They promote it so many times I've stopped listening to the station.
EVERY time I turned it on it was a promo for the damn competition.

Do you listen through a smart speaker?

My wife has recently started listening to LincsFM through an Echo and it plays the 'make me a winner' nonsense every time, as it's programmed to. Took me a short while to figure out why we always heard the same thing!
