People are still using that tired old stereotype, when they dont see a particular model as being worthy of a meat eating, red blooded, hard living heterosexual man they have a pop at hairdressers, as apparently anyone who cuts hair is likely going to be driving a pink Micra CC and shouting "Hello Ducky" as they pass.

I had a TT and got called it, I also had an app on my phone that made the sound of hair clippers, got a couple of people with that who said it "Well you said I am a hairdresser so thought you looked like you needed a quick trim" biggrin

I go to a barbers shop locally, there is a knackered old A3 outside that belongs to one of the staff, one had a Megane Scenic. The one over the road had a CLS63 and seems to have just got a G63 (must cut a lot of hair)

I used to know a Hairdresser called Dave who was a legend with with ladies, into the nineties he still dressed a bit like he was in Saturday Night Fever and drove a white Trans Am "6.6 Turbo" with the Eagle on the bonnet, sounded mighty but was actually only like 200 bhp !

Anyone on here cut hair ? Any idea what hairdressers actually drive ? Does that stereotype actually exist ?

My wifes hairdresser drives a RAV4, but the newer one, so it`s just a biggish standard SUV type thing. A mate of mines wife used to be a hairdresser and had a Vitara with the wideboy body kit and wheels on it. My mate was a signwriter, so put a load of Barbie graphics on it for a laugh. She wasn't happy laugh

Originally the stereotype was formed because many hairdressers were either gay fellows or young women, both groups unlikely to have hoards of kids to transport and house, so they had some disposable income and a lifestyle allowing them to buy small sportscars.

These days big SUVs are probably more desirable to such demographics.

My Barber has a Kawasaki ER5N. But I gather he has a Range Rover as well. A manual one, apparently.

The hairdressers next to my office do fit the sterotype to a certain extent - one has a boggo B5 A4, but also a Mk2 TT, and the other has a BMW E93.

My wife has a BTEC in Beauty Therapy and our first MX5 back in the early noughties was her idea. Blame for the subsequent NC MX5 and 986S falls at my door though.

I've had this comment occasionally about my 1 Series - normally from people with Korean hatchbacks and SUVs.

Ironic considering my current barber's staff car park is full of Korean hatchbacks and an X3....

Ours use sign written Smart Four Twos, three of them parked up outside the barbers / hairdressing shop and they take them out for house calls.

The barber always talks about his Megane Trophy Cup of some kind, it has semi slicks so can only be used a few days of the year due to the rain / temperature? That's why he 'has' to use the Smart.

The hairdressers don't show any interest whatsoever so not sure if they have a private car or just use the Smart roller skates to get around.

My hairdresser (barber) for many years drove allsorts of vintage Jeep’s and motorcycles, not unusual to see a WW2 vintage dispatch bike or Willys Jeep outside

His daughter who has recently taken over when he retired drives a SUV of some sort

A mate who I went to school with but only cuts women’s hair has a Cobra and a Wrangler whilst his wife has a FFRR
