Hi all

My Galaxy Fold 4 has not been 100% opening up flat lately, so I gave it the informal hinge clean out by opening and closing the phone whilst bathed in a warm bowl of water. Shouldn't be an issue, as it's a waterproof phone, although I do realise there is a risk.

Anyway, phone now opens flat and gave it a full night on wireless charge (if the phone is wet, it grumbles as it recognises moisture in the charging port, so it suggests wireless charging).

The phone turns on fine, connects to WIFI, and has full functionality in every way apart from not being able to find a network.

I've taken the SIM out and put it back in. The phone recognises the SIM (it has the full details, including the fact its an EE SIM)

In the SIM manager area, under the preferred SIM section, the Calls and Messages are greyed out but say SIM1, but the Mobile Data section is not greyed out and also says SIM1.

Now, I realise the obvious thing to do is just say that the bath has killed it, but I want to see if there is anything a bit more beyond that? Everything else seems fully functional, and it's odd that the phone goes as far as recognising the SIM *and* can use the SIM for data, just not for calls and messages.

I've tried doing a full restart, but I have not done a full reset. I would rather avoid this if I can, as setting the phone up again is a bit of a chore. Obviously, I will do this if necessary.

So, any suggestions? Thanks

Who'd have thunk it

Turned out that the waterproof phone isn't.

Water inside it, doing the fun things that water does to electronics. However, the only things not working are latching onto a network and the cameras are blurry due to condensation in them. Everything else working fine, including the nice clean hinge biggrin

So, now booking the phone in for repair with Samsung. Should be under warranty, as the phone is meant to be good for 30 minutes submersion in water.

Fingers crossed
