hygienist has revealed i need a couple of fillings
im not nhs registered and seems they would do grey ones unless front teeth?
so assume private dentist check up fee , plus the fillings , what sort of money should i expect to pay ? had a google of local ones and prices are all over the place

I have recently paid £225 for a filling at our private dentist, and that was with a 10% discount. An extraction is £350, sedation an extra £400. I know this as I paid for a filling, that didn't work, so needed an extraction. I did ask for a discount for the cost of the filling, as it only lasted a few weeks, but the answer was no.

what was the excuse for it lasting a few weeks?Timely topic as I require three fillings, one new and two replacements. All of my current ones are NHS amalgam ones, I have recently started at a private dentist as I needed an emergency appointment last week.
The fillings are going to be £200 each for white ones.
To be honest for a few hundred quid I cannot be bothered with the NHS anymore, especially as the service is SO much better.

The problem I have with it is that, when i go for a check-up, the dentist always reels off a list of treatments that they can do privately with the costs, but you get very little information about whether they are necessary, nice to have or just because the dentist can make a few quid.The fillings are going to be £200 each for white ones.

The last one i was offered a Jet blast cleaning for £75, something else that was £400, or an antiseptic gel gum treatment for £850. But I don't know if any of them are actually needed. at least with the NHS you know they are only doing treatments that are needed.

Tooth was bad underneath apparently. They didn't do an xray. Can't argue as it's hard trying to find a dentist here, either NHS or private.
I broke my tooth last week, it had a massive filling in it and it broke right through the middle. I knew they were going to pull it out, but they did an examination and X ray and it was rotten under the filling hence why it broke.I then had a follow up meeting where he told me I have gum disease, need at least two visits with the hygienist and need to have 2 fillings replaced and one new one.
Total cost is going to be around £1500 privately
Just gone private after 50 odd years NHS. Check up with X rays and 3d scan was £150. Good value imo as this took 1 hour. 1 large filling £170. One medium £130 both in white composite. Hygienist was £85.
Fantastic service and care. If I can afford it, I'll not be going back to NHS (If I could find one!)

Yes they will all have different prices, as most private businesses do. I've gone through the same process myself recently as my NHS dentist is refusing to fill 2 of my teeth (where previous fillings have fallen out) which I'm not sure they're allowed to refuse necessary treatment, but having searched online prices do indeed vary.
Personally I'd go with one that was reasonable price but more importantly, good reviews.
