Despite decades of being on the road a real WTF moment today that left me incredulous.

Dual carriageway with central reservation, people stopped hazards on. In front of them someone is attempting a 3 point turn on the dual carriageway to turn around and drive the WRONG way back down the dual carriageway.

Eventually the miscreant gave up and drove the correct way on the dual carriageway, very slowly.

When you think you have seen it all and can chill out, let the drivers around you behave any which wau within their own space, the world apparently can still throw you a massive WTF.

Wouldn’t rank it as highly as your scenario but I did see a car parked facing the wrong way on a one way street earlier.

Some entitled and or useless drivers on the road. Shame we can’t concentrate on the quality of driving and punish accordingly.

Still, he wasn't speeding so...

A car and a motorbike had a falling out on the M1 the other day, the biker slowed the car down in the 3rd lane to a stop and then started having an argument.

Luckily lane 2 and 1 slowed down as well, everybody came to a halt for a few minutes.

Never seen anything like that before unless the police have blocked the motorway.

M27 / M3 Eastbound: Saturday 5PM (ISH).

Only a few weeks ago, spotted an artic that had missed the slip road & was reversing down the hard shoulder.
It was a downhill slip road, so effectively he would have to block it off with the trailer before being able to turn the tractor unit.

I had my elderly Father with me, so it was a silent WTF moment, but we both couldn't believe what we had just witnessed.

The most logical explanation is the driver thought they were playing Gran Turismo and had hallucinated the "wrong way" sign

This is a generational thing, and definitely a someone recently arrived from a less developed part of the world thing. I just don’t remember it happening so frequently.

U turns, 3 point turns and reversing up sliproads rather than taking the next junction/roundabout/street, I wonder if it’s sat nav fixation?

Watched a delivery driver take 2 minutes to do an Austin Powers 64 point turn, crushing the tyres of his ancient Suzuki off the kerbs, just 25 yards from the obvious hammerhead.

Probably a good job driving is not part of his job description... I expect his day job is as a nuclear physicist!

I was driving up the M1 south of Luton last night at around 9pm and the gantry was warning of a stranded vehicle.

On a section with no hard shoulder there was a car parked up with a wheel hanging off and no lights or hazards. Then the occupants, a middle aged woman and a 8yr~ old child had decided to walk out into the live lane to try thumb a lift in the dark.

I have a video stored on the car's infotainment that I'll never do anything with of a bloke coming the wrong way around a four lane, major roundabout just north of Leicester.

I slowed to a stop and fortunately so did the other vehicles using the roundabout correctly and eventually the chap did a seven pointer (you could have done it in one) and carried on his merry way.

There are chevrons and suchlike.

The first time I called 999 it was to report a driver changing a wheel in the outside lane of the M11. Mrs BC was driving and neither of us could believe what we were seeing. yikes

I have seen the occupants of a car have a picnic on the hard shoulder (motorway), and as has been mentioned, someone changing a wheel in the outside lane.
Some people are strange.

I still see people swerving late across the chevrons having almost missed their motorway junction…

Not realising that the roads are on different levels and they take off into the air at 70mph! Actually with the wheels off the ground.

Pure luck or maybe good stability control that they don’t end up in a massive accident.

M25/M23 junction and M25/M11 junctions.

To be fair, the first example might have been waiting for a tow truck. Best to do havevthe picnic on the verge though.

Driving home from a night out in Taunton I turned onto a roundabout to meet an oncoming HGV taking it anti-clockwise. I think I lived to tell the tale.

For those members who are connoisseurs of such moments (like those who watch TV talent shows because these are so bad) I give you The School Run.

I live on a one way street - the number of cars which fly down it the wrong way is impressive! It’s clearly marked and due to road layout quite awkward to actually turn in to when going the wrong way.

Similar last week on the way into the office. Driver tried to join the M4, failed to judge their speed or look for gaps in the traffic to join and decided just to stop at the end of the slip road.

Nearly caused a 3 car pile up as cars had to slam on their brakes to stop. Granted it was busy and there was a long line of trucks in L1, but still made no attempt to at least speed up to find a gap.
