Hi,
I have car booked into the dealer on Monday to sort out a bits and bobs. Last night went into the garage to pop out for a quick spin.. Tried to pull away as per usual, it felt like I was trying to pull a caravan (I have no towbar fitted ;-) ) After a couple of enthusiastic dumps of the clutch the car finally pulled away. Felt like the back wheels were solid until they freed up.

It had only been stood for 3 days in a well kept, dry garage.

When I got the car back after the jaunt, I can see a little trace of where the pads stood in the disk (only at the rear I think).

Questions are :
1. Is this normal
2. Will the dealer be able to sort or should I not bother mentioning it ?
3. When I collected it last week, I could see that the wheels had been removed due to copper slip being on the hubs, should they have seen this problem in its inspection ?

That's normal behaviour on most cars that have handbrakes which work on the rear brak caliphers.

Try parking the car in gear (1st or reverse) and leaving the handbrake off.

That should make it less of a problem.

Not much else you can do about it I'm afraid..

Dont suppose you went out in the rain / washed it before you put it away last? Mine felt like it was set in cement after leaving it for a few days following a wash. I always go for a quick blast after a wash to avoid this problem.

Stove, you've sussed it !!! Nice one, never even passed my mind (mainly because my driving history involves experiences with Jap / German cars)

If you garage the car it's worthwhile making sure the disks are hot when you park it up in the garage, expecially the rears, this helps alleviate this problem.

If its wet and salty on the roads I left foot brake under power for the last 300 metres to my house so when the car gets put in the garage it's brakes are nice and dry.

Also, if you wash the car, take it out for a spin to dry the brakes off before putting it away.
