S2 HEATER

Have had an S2 for over a year now and had no probs at all. Love the car but recently the heater control has got much stiffer and is almost unusable. Has anyone else got this and more importantly has anyone got a solution as I may be selling the car in 2003.

Guess what its another known problem that is inherrent of the shite that rolls out of Hethel - mines done the same.

Remove the front service panels and look under the aluminium tube where it goes onto the heater unit.

Should be able to see the cable and the lever it's attached to, which selects warm or cold air.

What can happen is that it gets obstructed by either the ali tube dropping slightly, or the routing of some of the wiring along the unit.

Make sure it's free to move (eg. use some cable-ties to move cables out of it's path) and try again.

Worked fine on my car and has been smooth ever since.
