Sorry for the random post but I think this may be one for the 911 anoraks!

I bought a used bonnet for my 964 but it appears to be slightly shorter than the old one and also has washer jets in it.

Any idea what 911 it is from?

Cheers,
Bryn.

Why shouldn't it be shorter? Front PU was different and so were the front wings. Maybe not a lot shorter, but I bet the joimans made it an odd shape just to say they changed another 1% of the car during its evolution (99% new parts etc.)

993 bonnet defo had the jets in the bonnet not the scuttle... either side of the sunken air intake slot.

Because from memory the 964/993 bonnets are a straight swap.

May be wrong but sure they are.

Doors and engine cover deff are.

OK, I bet you a pint they're not a straight swap.

And come to think of it... although the doors are, I'm not even sure the engine cover is. I'm not betting beer on it, but I will have to check

Your on (except the washer jets obviously!)

Ok im a bit of a cheat because I know the answer to doors and engine lid!

Differences:

Doors identical *but* window frames slightly neater, inside door cards and handles etc modernised, teardrop mirros fitted as last 964, but the door itself identical in every way, hence why I've just fitted one to my 964

Engine lid: the lid itself identical, *but* the pop up spoiler is a neater flush design as opposed to having the kick of the 964, and the carrera badge is slightly smaller and usually silver. But the panel is the same.

got to be worth 1 pint that info at least, now we need someone with a 993 and a tape measure!!!

964 and 993 bonnets have different part numbers and I think 993 bonnet is installed so that it's front edge is slightly higher in order to line up with the different PU.

993 bonnet length 120.5cm

Just measured taking the middle of the badge from scuttle
to end of bonnet.

Cheers Paul. Any 964 owners near their car to measure their length, fnarr fnarr?

There's a pint resting on this, or I may call it a half pint if oli is correct re the rear tailgate.

Certainly 964 fits on 3.2 as my mate changed to the auto spoiler, but I couldn't remember 964 to 993 tailgate well enough to make a definite call.
