On the return journey after a superb trip to Classic L M, rather randomly just as I turned off the M25 the airbag warning light came on.

The car is a 993 C2 - 1994 vintage.

Before I take it to the garage, is there any known faults on these items?

I've tried the standard, turn off, turn on, but to no avail.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Matt

Mine is currently doing this. Airbag warning on startup, turns off after 5 minutes driving (when it's warmed up). Will be getting it checked in the next few weeks. Mine's a '94 993 as well... actually tempted to remove the bagged wheel entirely and put a nice RS one on

I would recommend keeping it and having it checked out asap. You never know when you might need it.

the prob is caused by either a faulty sensor (rare), a faulty airbag ecu (not so rare) or usually a faulty solder connection on the back of the clock unit, its an infuriating prob, can be turned off with a hammer but usually reappears. no simple solution to getting rid I'm afraid, it affects all 964/993, i have just removed the bulb from mine in frustration.

The seats did get moved around a lot more than usual during the weekend, loading up camping equipment, and squeezing in passengers for trips to Arnage!

So I'm thinking perhaps it's a faulty connection somewhere along the line?

I guess I'll have to get it looked at.

Although a replacement three spoke wheel of some sort sounds a good option!!

Thanks all.

There's no airbag circuitry in the seat area of a 993. So it is unlikely your weekend activity is to blame.

Get it plugged into a diagnostic hammer at a garage. They will be able to tell if it is an intermittent fault or not and may also be able to pinpoint the exact area.
