Looking to pop my 911 cherry soon
Discussion
Hi folks. Another newbie on board.
Having been lurking for a little while... About to take the 996 plunge, although have yet to find the perfect lassie. Driven a couple, seeing another on Monday. Don't want to rush it (actually, that's a complete lie, I want her NOW) and want to make sure I get the best one around.
Have spent a fair while looking on here and other fora (??) for tips and pretty much understand the risks on RMS, Engine blowout, service costs (don't seem too bad), tyre wear, brake degradation, console hinge breaks, stone chips, blah blah blah. But at the end of the day, I want one and I want her bad!
Have about £25k to spend on the car, give or take (we know which that will be) a couple of k, tops. I want OPC warranty and 111 check including in that couple of k, so really we're talking £26k tops for the beast herself.
Looking early 996 C2. Living in the wilds, was tempted by a C4 but the 2WD seems soooo planted I can't see any advantage bar when it's snowing or similar (and C2 seem more common, a good thing in Scotland - very few cars up here compared with dan sahf). Tip doesn't appeal as much - she'll be my first Porker, so want the genuine article.
No 993 though - I'm a shoit driver!

Good luck with your search.
Pppppllllllleeaaaseeeeeeee dont go for the Tip. whilst they are favoured by some (with nice hair) they simply do not compare to a manual. I was given a 2.7 Boxster as a courtsey car the other week. It had the tip box and felt completely dull. Got fed up with the steering wheel shift in about 30 secons and then used it as an auto.
Of course, if you work in the hair dressing business then you will need a Tip Cab.
