I've heard conflicting reports on whether or not this type of diff does or doesn't wear out. I know that the clutch type ZF ones do wear - but does the Torsen unit wear & require replacing - I'm guessing they can't be rebuilt in the same fasion?

thanks,

tertius

From all the research I've done into LSDs in the last few days, according to Quaife, no they don't.

I don't think they do; they're all gear driven with no "slip" taking place internally. That said I think they don't like having a wheel get airborne; that wheel then gets all the torque and when the car comes back to earth the shock loads to the diff and drivetrain are huge. Great for the street and "normal" track day use but not if you like using the kerbs in anger.
