Are we going to do this then? I suggest we pick a Friday night ('cos the little girl in Uppingham told those of us that shyly enquired that Fri was the best night for getting bevved up), and hire a mini-bus (and driver) so that all can neck a few sherberts. Uppingham gets lively, Stamford more so and has a cheesy club too.

Maybe someone can suggst another small market town... Harborough (better for the Northamptonians)?

Roll up, roll up

Perhaps I'm getting (too) old but I'd prefer a blast out (convoy) to Uppingham for a meal and a laugh and a hoon back!

I usually go into Uppingham on a Friday eve, but Saturdays just as good, simply cos the beers good and I can walk there and get the beer scooter home!! I'd hardly call it proper "lively", but a couple Bombardiers in the Waggon and Horses then plenty of Timothy Taylors Landlord in DP's does the trick for me silly There are a couple of others if you fancy a proper pub crawl.

Stamford is an altogether busier place and it has the Central, curry houses etc. I'll leave it to you to decide if the extra journey and associated cost makes it worhtwhile....

As a compromise what about Tyre Treads suggestion - those that fancy beer followed by some more beer get transport to Uppingham and those that want to hoon themselves there and back meet at DP's? I've eaten there a couple of times and it's very good, or as an alternative there's the late night delicately roasted prime cut of meat wrapped in a fresh pitta, accompanied by crunchy salad and a chilli jus (aka a kebab!)

Pistonheads comes to Uppingham. Who'd have believed it....

Sat 23rd September followed by Sunday 24th September 2006 = Three Counties Car Rally

"Just bring your class car and your picnic and enjoy the day in the beautiful surroundings of Britains oldest original theme park, not a car show in the traditional sense, just a quiet family atmosphere with loads to do (or not do!) as your mood takes you."

For those with a bad headto allow them to recover .....shout SLOWLY!
