Just in the process of tidying up my new Midnight Blue 993. I need to get the following done:

Bonnet (not wings) full respray
Rear wheel arch protectors (replaceable ?)
Paint also needed on the lower skirts

Does anyone know (berkshire area) who is a reputable company to get these done ? Has anyone experienced similar paintwork issues? Of course I dare not to even approach an OPC simply because I estimate the cost to probably be double.

Any advice/previous experiences welcomed.........

Hello

You will probably end up having the wings blended anyway to lose the colour of the paint as they can never match it 100% so they blend the top of the wings to discuise it more.

Yes I was in a similar postion with mine - ended up getting the whole car sprayed for not much more than the little bits added together.

911 Bodyshop , Crispin , 911 specialist..........lower bits easy to loose , bonnet only, is always a hard choice , also was it painted before?
protectors for rear flares pay the extra, buy proper Porsche ones they re thicker and more protective than other after market products though if i remember right abt £40/50 each. Cris 0208 9000572 near bt Wembley Stadium

Specialised have a very good name and the TVR / Lotus boys swear by www.ewelmecoachworks.com (who have just quoted to tidy my 993).

I do suspect if you need the bonnet doing you will need the PU and wings blending too at minimum and possibly even the front scuttle and doors or you could end up with a car that looks like a VW Polo Harlequin in the wrong light.

Costwise personally I would budget 1.5K to 2K to get this all done well. A bonnet alone will be loads less.

Might be worthwhile considering localised chips away style repairs if you can get away with it.

Its a tough call.

Specialised are great but you pay for it - Ray Northway recommends a body shop that's about 200 yards from his place, their work looks good and their quotes are better than Specialised. Worth dropping in before yu make a final decision...

Re the bonnet/blending with wings bumper etc.

I'd get the whole front painted up to the windscreen. I've seen a silver 993 Turbo that had had this done and you could not tell at all (i was told it had been done).

VS any idea what the place is called near Northway as I may drop by for a quote before committing myself?

Intresting. I have spoken to Ray in the past about paintwork and he has suggested Specialised Paintwork. I think I just need to get the car down there for a quote. Anyone else used Specialised Paintwork??
