Speedster Replicas... Advice

Hi all, Ive posted this in the kit car forum too, but thought the Porsche enthusiasts might be able to offer some help too. Apologies if Im breaking any posting rules!
Just looking for advice really. Im really into the classic 50's and 60's Porsche Speedster shapes and would like to find one to build as a kit. I cant afford Chesil prices but they are the only manufacturers I know of. Im keen to keep it as authentic as possible, so want to use the Beetle as a donor (Im aware of some kits using a Skoda I think?)Can anybody recommend a place to start looking? Im not adverse to part built projects either. Im particularly taken with the 718 shape, or the RS60. Any advice gratefully received!

HI Matt, do you want the build or do you want the car? With most of these kits you can buy a car cheaper than the kit and doing it yourself... even if you buy something that isn't 100% how you want it, you can then modify it to want you want.
There are a couple of choices other than Chesil for 356 speedster reps, and a couple of choices on the skoda or beetle based 718 replica - bear in mind the speedster and the RSK are very different cars once built.

I would like to do some of the build myself to at least add my own touches to it and make it my own. If the right price came along I would think about buying a complete car, but a part built kit would be preferable.
Im more interested in the racing varieties so Im preferring the 718, but again, if the right one came along I would definitely look at the Speedster variety. I have to admit my interest is based on aesthetics and a love for the cars of the era rather than a detailed techninal knowledge of the individual models.
