Hi I get a slight clunking noise after driving my Boxster for an hour or so when I go over bumps or even breaking. Car has done 45,000 miles and is 6 years old.

Feels like something to do with the suspension around the steering column.

Investigating via the internet found this:

where it sounds like it could be the dampeners. Anybody suffered with a similar problem and if so what was it and how serious a garage bill am I looking at?

Cheers
Chris

Hi there could just be a suspension drop link ...£26 +/- or a bottom arm....very rare a dampner will knock because its worn out the strut bearing inside...have had it before but never on a boxster.

get it to a garage for a check up....more likely to be the bottom arm with the rose joint in it...as when they get hot they knock alot...front and rear of the car.

Had my lower arms replaced, last week, cost £299 plus VAT
plus labour on a 996 turbo.
Sorted the Knocking noise out a treat !
