Has anyone ever raced a new turbo against the old '88?

I just wondered. I spotted an old 911 parked outside my flat the other day and noted compared to my more portly version that..

1. It looked so small (Didn't when I was a kid!)
2. Much more narrow.

So I got wondering if the old widow maker had ever gone head to head with it's younger brother (or erm, cousin)scratchchin

it would be interesting to line up all the 911 Turbo models and put them against one another...

On a circuit, i do think the order would be latest first (simply by power/grip/technology advancement) however, a standing mile dash could be interesting!

yeah! Now that I'd like to see!

Now where would we go to find a bunch of people who all have the various different models required... hmmm....

I wandered alongside a parked 993 a couple of days ago and having not seen one in the flesh for a while I was surprised how small it seemed in comparison to my 996

Yeah, the old comment of 'if it aint' broke don't fix it' would be interesting to test.

...i had a red 930 turbo stuck to my tail in my 996 along some fast but twisty linconshire b roads. He wasn't getting any smaller in my rear view mirror despite pushing to the limit. Only when he got caught off boost exiting a corner did i pull any sort of a gap. It was a fun and very memorable drive....being chased by the "athena" heart throb from my youth!

strange one that nobby, I left him in the distance with simon glued to my tail on the same day

you missed out on that run, the way home was by far the better of the 2 routes

heres a pic of it behind RedRSR's 993RSR

looks tiny, would love a 930 turbo in that condition.

Back to back the 997 very very good car which was the problem at speeds my 993 trills the 997 felt bland. You’re cushioned from the sensations of speed (but it was only a C4S)

but your comparing a C2 with a Turbo there...

It would actually be interesting to see how the 'entry level' 911's stacked up as well as the turbo's..

Nobby didn't have the benefit of junctions and traffic to slow me down

Go ahead mate, I'm sure Mr. D will join us in his 997TT this time. I tried to chase him down a bumpy back road recently and he left me for dead. That car lets you do anything!
