Arse, and indeed, bugger.

Just doing a service on my 944, and as I went to renew the fuel filter (I neglected to do this in the service I did just after I bought her last year - dumbass rolleyes ) I discovered that the unions are totally and utterly rusted solid - it can't have been changed in years.....

I've managed to free off the union on the engine side, but no luck whatsoever on the fule pump side - just starting to round over the union.

Now as I've already soaked it in penetrating fluid (worked on the other side ) with no joy, I'm thinking the best option will be to simply remove the other end of the hose from the fuel pump (protected by the shield, therefore hopefully not as corroded) and replace the filter and hose together, calling for another visit to my local OPC for the hose....

This is mainly a rant about poor maintenance (how ing hard is it to change a fuel filter????? - I appreciate the irony of not bothering, but this is far more than 2 years worth of shit), but if anyone has anything constructive to add, I'd love to hear it

I mean why do people skimp like this? the whole bloody service kit only costs about £40, and an hour or two arseing about to fit it. All the problems I've had with this car have been caused by skimping on the maintenance in the past, and I just can't understand it - it's not going to cost the earth to just service properly, so WTF do muppets skimp on it?????
