Maser exhaust thoughts

Hi
I am in the process with playing... sorry experimenting with exhausts on my 4200. Initially I fitted Tubi back boxes, sound amasing at all revs but the resonance between 2000rpm and 3000rpm and general interior noise is too much for me and the exterior noise is I am affraid too loud for my early morning starts.
Next move has been to a Larini centre section and standard back boxes. Probably about 40% of the noise of the Tubis at tickover and quite a pleasent noise at higher revs, say 60% of the Tubi. Very little interior noise which is what I was aiming for. The concern is though that the car is very obviously modified so probably bigger issues at the dealer should any warranty work be needed.
Next step I think will be Larini back boxes and standard centre section - anyone got any experience of these? Then if that is OK perhaps the whole lot together - centre section and back boxes.
In terms of power I would say the Tubi added a little at the top end, the Larini centre section initially gained more in the mid range than the Tubis but lost a little of that top end. Either I or the ECU seem to have adapted though and it now seems faster at the mid and high end. Perhaps this is the old memory playing tricks?
Anyway, I'll keep playing, meanwhile anyone wany intersted in 2x Tubi back boxes for a 4200 in VGC??

hi
driven a 3200 and loved turbo kick, driven 4200 Cab and it felt slowish by comparison, however as 3200 is getting old now I may consider 4200 and would be interested in exhaust mod that provides a lot more detail whilst restraining volume, particularly internal - the character however must percolate into the cabin - so very interested in your findings.
Do you consider the 4200 to have dramatic acceleration? - I drove the flappy paddle CC and it absolutely fried the clutch on a rapid take off - open cabin stunk for miles (and filled with smoke..) - so I think it might have to be manual
Fried the clutch? maybe they failed to give you a driving lesson!

Hi, reagrding noise / character, my current set up is relatively quiet inside. Any interior noise is mainly induction noise. The other down side is no burble at low revs. As a result I am having a pair of Larini back boxes fitted on Thursday. Probabaly with the standard centre section in place. I will post my thoughts... as soon as I have some!
With regard to fast standing starts, to be honest I avoid them, but once rolling find the car plenty fast enough. It is a heavy car though so it will never be the fastest thing on the block, I reckon my old z3 m coupe was faster for instance, but it is in my opinion a good compromise between speed, style and praticality. Just don't mention fuel consumption...
Other people have posted thoughts on fast get aways, usually around disable traction control and hit the throttle hard - tyre slip, not clutch slip!
Anyway, never driven a 3200 so can't comment on comparison so over to others...

Sorry but, MPG? - based on no long runs - country lane blasts of 10 miles or more? - Secondly, cruising at 90
