Hi guys,
The Brands Hatch website is a little sparse on details.
They say that you qualify as the light fades and then you race into the night... Is it a 4 hour endurance race or similar format. I guess what I want to know is when does the race start and when does it finish

I would guess it is not an open paddock as it could get a bit hairy in the darkness. I certainly intend on being there, I just need to prime the good lady (so to speak)

I am guessing being a 4 hour race it will finish 4 hours after the start

Well, it's not a 4 hour race as Tracksides post confirmed - so your point is?

We have to comply with the 18.30 curfew at Brands Hatch, but cannot start night qualifying until it is technically "dark". Each driver must get three laps in darkness to qualify for the race.

The curfew at Donington is less stringent, so we can have a longer race.

I kind of guessed that the local residents would not be too enamoured with a race that stretched into Saturday night.
Needless to say I think it's a great idea & I'm really looking forward to it.
Shame it isn't on the GP circuit - that would have been awesome.

I've been to the last two and they are great. Last year's event was one of the best race meets I've been to, although it probably helped that I was supporting Scuffham and Randy!

Qualifying is great for photos if it's a clear day and obviously the Le Mans-style time-lapse shots work well too.

Wandering around the startline is eerie as the cars circulating Druids look as though they're in the air!

Definitely recommended, although there's usually a tinge of sadness as it's often the last meet of the year.

Does anyone know what the entry list is like, are there good grids for the night race and other events?

If Donington last weekend was anything to go by, I wouldn't take much notice of the entry list. 32 cars were in the programme as entries for the night race, 10 started. In Britsports, 20 entries, 6 starters for race 2 of which only 2 were classified as finishers. (This has already been discussed at length on the 'Donington 4th November' thread here).

You may be lucky and get a decent turnout, but don't hold your breath. Expect a dozen to turn up and you might be pleasantly surprised.

Went to Brands Hatch today.
I didn't get there until 3pm as I was with my 5 year old daughter.

Watched the Britsports race - just 5 cars but the commentary mentioned that many cars were currently being built and a field of possibly 30 was expected next year. They made all the right noises and looked good.

15 cars lined up for the Britcar Night Race. I was fearing the worse have read about the poor turn out at Donington. I watched the Qualifying from 4pm to 4.45pm and then just the first 15 minutes of the race (it was at this point the 5 years old started to suffer from Hypothermia)
I was very impressed, some nice machinery and it was great seeing Brands as the light faded.

I'll definitely be coming to see you guys next year.

The open race had 27 starters. I was in car 75 and it was going very well until the diff started leaking oil. Shame, as Cuff's car blew up and we were as quick as the eventual wnner!

My partner binned it on lap ne of the night race (after I had qualified it 2nd in class for him), shame as we should have seen some silverware today.

Ho hum.

What a brillent race for sure a few more cars on the grid would have been nice as would some warmth.

Well done to James for putting on such a good show.

Lap 3 actually, 2 laps were behind the SC , I was too keen to make up the lost spaces from having to start at the back, got on the marbles and simply couldn't stop and ending up going broadside and into the gravelmad . Blinding start as well. We would have qualified in 2nd place regardless though Angus, 52.529 was yours and 52.576 was mine, silverware was ours for sure, next time

Of course & I stand corrected.
The 2 laps behind the SC, were they to help your eyes adjust to the darkness?

I will certainly try & get along to some of the meetings next year.

Got my photos up here, some of the early ones in the Britcar Qualifying are a bit crap, but the later ones are a lot better.

I think this is my favourite though:
