Just looking for an indie service place in london as the battery on my RUF has died (i think) and POrsche service centres are not willing to help. It's stuck in the garage right now collecting dust! NOt sure if i is battery as the car runs when jump started. Any help greatly appreciated!!!

Certainly sounds like a dead battery. However, when it's running check the instruments and see whether the amp meter needle moves up when revving the engine. If it doesn't move to 14+ and points downwards then it's more likely to be the alternator not charging. New alternator fix will be a lot more than a new battery. Why take it to a garage? If in the AA RAC, call them out and explain car will not start. They will confirm categorically whether it's alternator or battery. If it's the battery then all eurocarparts and they will probably have one in stock. Should then be a 10 minute fix.

Google 'em to find a telephone number, no, actually it's 7357 0911. And ask for John.

Definitely RGA in Vauxhall.. Ask for Bob. He's ex-AFN in Chiswick who set up as an independant many moons ago.

Ive heard only bad things about Tower Porsche.

anyone got any good recommendations for north west london (NW3)? I once heard a story about a porsche garage in london near a famous bridge that swopped the engine block on someones pride and joy without telling them.....

If in North London has to be JAZ, in fact anywhere in London I'd say JAZ. Used to live next to Tower Bridge and have a nose around in said specialist near TB....I wouldn't take my P&J there.

That's Porsheworx on Lambolle Place. Mario is the owner. Done loads of stuff for me - always been very good although his timing estimates can be a bit awry.

Definately Bob in RGA. He takes an age, but is a sound guy and an excellent mechanic.

"Takes and age" - no way . They worked through the night to get my engine rebuild done before I took it to the Nurburgring. Definitely highly recommended.

I am recommending him! But I am being honest in relation to my dealings.

Bob had my car numerous times, and that of a friend, and always did an excellent job. But often the estimated time of completion was overun by a day or two. For me that is no problem - but it is still a fact.
