Crash.net rather appropriately said:

Juan Pablo Montoya's much-hyped Nextel Cup debut ended in dramatic fashion after the Colombian was punted into the wall and endured a fiery ride down the Homestead-Miami Speedway concrete.

Montoya's #30 Texaco/Havoline Dodge was the victim of what many are claiming was a deliberate shove from Cup veteran Ryan Newman, which sent the Chip Ganassi-run machine into the wall 15 laps from the chequered flag. Contact with the concrete ruptured the car's fuel tank, causing it to end its trajectory in flames, although former F1 pilot Montoya was able to climb out unaided and unhurt.

Having qualified comfortably in the middle of the 43-car field, Montoya proved that he could cut it in the highest level of stock car racing, running just outside the top ten for a while. However, he also made contact with Newman's #12 Alltel car, prompting the suggestions that his exit was the result of retaliation. "The #12 tapped me in the back," Montoya confirmed to journalists at the track. The accident consigned the Colombian to 34th in the final result, while his assailant claimed 23rd spot in a race won by Greg Biffle.

It did make a pretty spectacular trail of fire across the track and Montoya got out of the car pretty damn sharpish, I think the entire rear end being in flames probably instilled a sense of urgency... yes
