Sounds weird - details here.

It happened early on Wednesday and, as I understand it, the road is still closed tonight (Thursday). I believe the road surface sustained significant damage as a result of the fire.

Anyone know anything about this?

Pain in the arse for me this morning and yesterday, I've got to go in the North and over Culter bridge and then in the rest of the South to Brig o' Dee.

Cheers,

Eric

I missed this one, but yesterday must have been crazy day.

On my way to work I passed a silver-grey Mercedes with its engine on fire just off Anderson Drive near Gt Western Rd, and then on Gt W Rd, while everybody was getting out of the way so that the fire engine could get past, a cyclist wiped himself out by cycling at full tilt up the painted line they call a cycle lane into the side of a Freelander . silly

According the the Evening Depress tonight; "Police are now keen to talk to the driver of a vehicle which was overtaken by the Land Rover shortly before the accident". (link)

I'm intrigued.

I assume the LR driver is being questioned on suspicion of driving like a 2@ then. Although, the crossroads at Park bridge isn't exactly the safest junction i've ever tried to pull out of yikes

And the L-R was doing what, precisely, in the CYCLE LANE!
They are for cyclists!

As I mentioned, it was letting a fire engine past. As was everybody else except the cyclist.

I guess if he had hit the fire engine he wouldn't have got off so lightly.

That's the obvious inference but I wouldn't want to speculate.

Edited 'cos I just twigged that skyedriver's comment was in response to John W's post - sorry.

The taxi driver taking me from Banchory to the airport early this morning was talking about this accident. Taxi drivers seem to be a good source of information about such matters.

He said the Land rover was overtaking and hit the red Polo head on. So presumably the police want to question the driver of the car being overtaken. He obviously drove off without leaving any details.

And should forfeit his driving license for doing so. I really don't understand how people can just drive off having witnessed a major accident.

OK, I'll be using them next week (fingers crossed w.r.t. availability) so I'll get the story then.

Cheers,

Eric
