Okay, so as not to hijack the other thread...

I wonder if this is actually a worthwhile idea (and in posting this i therefore copyright the idea on the 4th december 2006 )..

You could have different, or even simpler, different colour cars for pieces (something for the ladies then! hehe )

For the streets have car companies - for the brown have Kia and Hyundia, for Park lane have McLaren and Bugatti..

also have Zonda, Ferrari and Lamborghini for the next one down, then onto Porsche etc.. down to Ford...

Could easily fill the board I reckon - although you'd probably need permission to use the names and logo's/imagery..

Could have a Speed Camera on the go to jail - and a clamp on the jail square...

What you reckon? could be fun - unlikely ever to go anywhere, but hey...

same as monopoly - you land on the square - you pay rent (or service charge/repair?)

I wasnt trying to reinvent the game - just put a different spin on it.

Says the guy with the Star Wars special edition Monopoly somewhere

Sure, but 'serious' revenue? You'd have to keep the metaphor consistant. What would replace the development of houses/hotels?

Oh - do you mean revenue as in actually selling the product? or within the game?

yeah, i thought about the houses/hotels - all i could think of was production lines (hotel could be factory?)

I didnt say it was a good, or well thought out idea! hehe

You can buy blank monopoly games.

Or, are you thinking of actually setting something up on-line?

It was an idea I had mid-way through a post on the other thread...

It isnt well thought through or planned yet...

But hey, if you have ideas mate - im more than happy to hear them!

I suppose i could make my own out of the blank one you mentioned, but couldn't 'sell on' because of the licensing issue.. some online game hidden behind a secure server however....

Like the idea of factories/production lines.

I think this a great idea, but don't let Monopoly idea restrict it too much. Could be a very interesting game, with all sorts of variables.

One player could be the government. Think of all the tax!

Speed camera squares could be a good revenue raiser. Just like in real life. Maybe have them in place of the stations, then charge the players for speeding at a rate of 10x the dice throw.

Perhaps you could have a "chance" card that says "accident rates up due to crap road safety policy. Pay every player £1000 for each speed camera card you hold".

Oh yes, a seriously satirical version taking the rise out of "road safety" policy would go down a storm I reckon.

Much as I hate to say it players could buy speed cameras and then other players pay fines accordingly if they land on the square.....

I'm having loads of ideas for a full game... Are we forming a toy company here?

Well - are you sure you want to stick at the IT buisness?

I'm sure a group of us together part-time could probably design, make, market and sell a game... waddayareckon?

And seriously for a second - the road safety game gets around the licensing laws as long as we dont use the Gatso brand...

yes as long as it's ironic it would be a huge seller.....

I can multitask, IT and toys, no problemo

I think the problem will come with manufacturers protecting their trademarks, unfortunately. I can't see anyone being best pleased with being selected for the brown squares, not even on the basis of any publicity being good publicity. Plenty of them will be clamouring to be dark blue however, ja!

You could modify the cars. The more mods a car has, the more you have to pay to "rent" it out when you land on it.

The four stations could be dealerships and the utilities could be the AA and the RAC.

Writing the Chance/Community Chest cards would be fun! "You've won an illegal street race. Collect £10 from each of the other players".
