Serviceing new 997

I was in opc killing time & was looking at 997 info on service
20000 or 2 years £320, 40000 or 4 years £550.
that works out at £220 a year on 10000 pa.
THATS FORD MONEY, get a base 997 for £57k & run it for 4 years & you will get a big %age of your money back, as well as having a lot of fun.
now how can I put it to the misses.

Such as?
I mean is there anything that is 110% required as part of a menu service that they don't list or do you mean the "your discs are corroded your pads are shot" spiel?
I figured with my Boxster use the OPC to get the first few service stamps in the book and for anything else use a reputable independent.
I wouldnt imagine there should be anything on the first service over and above the £400 they charge seeing as the car is under warranty for 2 years and the first service is at 2 years,so go in a week before the 2 years is up.
Probably do a set of rear tyres before u get to that service but that should be about it really.

I have a 997 S and to be honest I would expect certain things to need attention/replacing at 40k miles..who wouldnt?
I would be interested to know what the service bill/replacments/failures on the old so called iron horses would be.
A 993/964 would run at a pretty penny in 4 years/40k miles, even allowing for the usual short comings not rearing their heads.
I looked at all this before I bought new and under 1k plus consumables in 4 years is pretty good in my book. Nothings 100% but ile take my chances...

Well, I could go back to the detailed bills I have but the general "fee" for the service is only a part of the total bill. They change oil, wipers etc. Not that I find this bad as it is very convenient but it shows in the bill
I am looking to join the 911 ownership experience and have been ding some research and i was also suprised with the servicing costs-

So the prices on the Porsche website don't include the consumables such as Oil that are part of a scheduled service?
I'm not trying to be pedantic but I'm trying to understand what extras a punter would have to pay for as part of a scheduled service purely as part of the service to get the service stamp vs. "oh and here's the £2k of additional work we'd recommend".

In my experience this is only the work they carry out and consumables are extra
I have to be honest - with all my Porsches I have never been hit with a bill saying this needs doing or that needs doing. I have had a word about 997 servicing and apparantly there will be consumables on top of the quoted price on this forum. I am guessing you won`t have a lot of change out of £600 for a service .. but look on the bright side .. at least they don`t need to take the engine out like in my old 355 at a cost of £2000!
For piece of mind I get my fluids changed every 12 mths anyway and get the car looked over while its there - if anything does go wrong thereafter and it should have been picked up by them, then the buck shifts to them...
