what year did porsche change to using aluminium rear trailing arms in the 944 suspension.

i would like to get hold of some kit off the older steel arm setup, but i dont know which year they changed.

when i enquire at places all i know is that i need to have the steel arm parts, but that doesnt help me with which model - year they should come off.

As far as I am aware the alloy rear arms came out on the 924S and the 944 after the square dash 944 was dropped in 1985. I am not sure if they are interchangeable (never needed to check) however the first 944 curved dash cars made in the first year until 1987 had a different offset and so the early steel rear arms would only fit a pre 1987 car - if indeed such a transfer was possible.
