Hi,
I'm looking for a one day rally course for my wife, I'm not looking for a day where some prat with a scooby and a spare field let's her do handbrake turns. We both hill climb and I thought getting her some expert tuition in a RWD car on the loose stuff would help her feel more at ease pushing the race car.

So one day with a pro or at least someone who knows what he/she is doing would be ideal, preferably in south wales.

Does anyone have any clues/ideas/suggestions of good reputable companies/individuals?

Thanks

Don

Don't know if it would be advanced enough for you but I found the Silverstone Rally School just excellent.

I did a day there (class of 12) with a group of pals for me nephew's 18th.

Its not a discipline I'd tried before - plenty of circuit experience but no real sideways action. Boy was that about to change!

I liked it as there were proper lectures/lessons in the classroom (during which I actually found things out as opposed to yawning through 'em) followed by a practical exercise that demonstrated what the previous lesson was about.

Exercises like throttle steering between cones, pendulum effect turns and use of the handbrake (to go sideways!) got you in the mood on their skid-pan. In the afternoon its onto the (real loose surface) rally stage (none of yer airfield tarmac) to try and lap it quickly.

At the end your instructor acts as a co-driver and gives you rally instructions which you have to follow (not the same route as before) - going the wrong way is considered very bad so its quite an exercise.

At the end the same bloke who has been patiently helping you to knock cones over and ease the car back off the raised verges then drives inch-flippin-perfect at speed totally sideways whilst (in a calm voice) commenting on the drive and how it compares to your last attempt.

Humbling. Especially if one has started to think that one might be getting a little quicker during ones circuit driving...

But what a laugh...

Big thumbs up for Phil Price Rally School.

It's a truly awesome day, with superb instructors, you get to practice going sideways all day in a RWD MkII Escort, a recce-paced passenger ride round the stage in a Scooby, drive the stage in a Scooby, and a full-speed passenger ride in Escort Cosworth driven by Phil. I thought I wasn't doing too badly until my lap with Phil - it was absolutely amazing!

Phil can also help you get your MSA licence.
