Following on from the Helmingham thread, does ask the question why we go to shows - as individuals or as a group/club?

Personally I go with a club in spirit of comradeship & do my stand-manning bit, but apart from that it's just so that I can have a good time wandering around seeing what's out there & meeting (hopefully) interesting people.

Totally agree with the latter, and that's what we normally do. We have some very nice big banners coutesy of Ted, so we look just like a good club stand although it's not a formal 'club' as such.

Helmingham is the awkward one, as they give us the option (if last year is anything to go by) of (a) getting in for free as an individual, and being in the middle of the action, or paying £10 and parking in the back end of nowhere. Hence the idea that for this one, we book as individuals, but arrive together (so we park together), set up the banners, and presto, club stand for free

If you're not on my mailing list but want to join the PH Roadshow, please drop me a line and you'll get all the details in good time party

Dispite the booking arrangements for clubs I reckon Helmingham is one of my top three shows of the season. Its the vast array of cars which hits the spot, from the latest 'Top Exoctics' down the years to Veteran motors and most stuff inbetween. And the icing on the cake is the driveway run.

2nd place go'es to Ipswich - Felexstow run.

And top of the pops is : Henham Park Steam Rally. Smoke'n smuts a plenty smokin

But as has been mentioned, all shows have in common the camoradie. thumbup

That's true: the quality, rarity and sheer value of some of the cars is outstanding. For class, it's the top show.
