"Steve Rider introduces a look behind the scenes at McLaren's base in Surrey, as their new line-up of drivers - two-time world champion Fernando Alonso and young British sensation Lewis Hamilton - prepare for the new campaign. Both drivers speak about the season ahead and their desire to claim McLaren's first world title in seven years, while other leading figures talk about some of the team's work during the winter months which they hope will see them become more competitive than in recent years"

Should be interesting, starts at 5:10 on ITV1

Hardly Steve Rider presenting though was it, saw him for all of 2 minutes

I thought it was fairly good at giving an insight into the drivers themselves, but it had a feel of "Mclaren PR video" about some of it, for example I'd like to have seen a lot more of the technical side and pre-season testing etc, and less of the launch and all the staged shots of the cars on track doing about 10 mph. I suspect in fact thats exactly what it was, I bet the large majority was recored on behalf of Mclaren themselves that ITV have bought and then added a few bits to make it into an ITV F1 documentary.

Finbar Lynch

Really interesting programme. It certainly showed LH as a confident, but down to earth bloke.

Good luck to him for next week.

Without a doubt. It didn't have the air of an ITV documentary about it, mainly as it was quite watchable and well produced, so I would definitely say it was a McLaren promo effort that just happens to translate well into selling to TV stations/networks. Lovely piece of advertising as well.

And remember, no 'donuts'

I couldn't agree more about the quality of the production. Probably the best ever F1 programme ever shown on ITV. Thank god James Allan was no where to be seen or heard

If only the actually F1 coverage by the company who ITV commission could come close to that, but I guess that'll never happen as they have to pander to the lowest levels of TV viewers who would normally be watching X Factor or Corrie - YUK

THAT was funny.

Some PR bloke and Big Ron both giving clear instructions (although I'm sure they were talking about the F1 cars rather than the SL's and it was just cleverly edited) then cut to Alonso in a cloud of tyre smoke hooning it round the track.

More significant perhaps was the McLaren techie looking seriously impressed - "Look, one handed and waving!"

Powerslides and burnouts still make me laugh - must be after effects from too much Dukes of Hazzard as a kid

I totally agree, some cracking filming but it was an hour of sponsorship signs for a big telephone company. Good to see LH so focused and a reminder of his drive in Turkey last year.

It was quite revealing to see the drivers interact away from the "spotlight". Lewis Hamilton is clearly living the dream and all the best to him - I just hope he doesn't get overawed by all the attention and hype when he touches down in oz. It will be huge pressure with the entire world watching him and being up against Alonso least we forget!

Watching the programme I thought about how much pressure is on a drivers shoulders when you consider the scale of a top F1 team, sponsors, fans, media etc. And that will be a culture shock to him im sure.

I wont be expecting him to qualify near Alonso (not that I dont wish him to) but I hope to see some real RACING from him in the race if turkey last year was anything to go by.
