When I was a kid, there used to be a DIY garage on Huntingdon Street in Nottingham where my dad used to take his cars to work on them. You could rent a bay with a lift, by the hour or the day, and borrow tools and stuff.

Do these places still exist?

Sadly, due to insurance restrictions and the good old Health and Safety Regs, Garages like this can no longer rent their workshops to individuals.
Plus with todays vehicles being more complex its easier for someone with a little knowledge to F**k a car pretty quickly.

Ah memories!!

Thanks for the response.

Does anyone know where I can rent a four post lift for a few hours local to Derby?

I want to do some tidying up on the underside of BG.

I know of a place next to lady bay bridge on meadow lane in nottingham woz, he's a friend of mine so he'll most probably let you work on BG - he certainly let me do the same on my mini

only problem is that the area is a bit shitty for your calibre of motor vehicle

drop me a line if you want details/you want me to sort it out for you
