As the title says really but it needs to be cheap and preferably around the Essex area.
A long shot I know but it will keep an ageing old clubman and his just as old driver on the road for a bit longer.

Thanks

Sorry Chris only just seen your reply.
Glad you asked that question as I hadn't thought of the differences. It's for an old 1000cc Clubman estate.
I'm now hoping you can tell me.

A Series, for the Clubmans IIRC. I'll have a chat with someone, who may have one.

I've got an 850 engine with magic wand box that is heading to the scrapyard at some point. Tight as you like.

A+ has more strengthing, there and that. better bearings, etc. i am not sure what is the main differences, but i know they are backward compititable.

The A has a thick flange as far as I know, means if fitted to a 1275 A+ the crank could hit the side of the box. A+ box should work fine on the A though.

Excellent stuff, thanks to everybody who replied and helped, and I've learnt something new
I'm hopefully going to collect Paul V's old box on Tuesday.

Thanks again

Just noticed this...

If changeing from A to A+, you will also need A+ drop gears and an A+ transfer case, the alternative is to use a conversion bearing in the A+ gearbox for the A idler.

There are no issues of using a 4 synchro A box on an A+ engine, other than the obvious A box being slightly weaker in design.
