I work in Doncaster and have looked to move to the area twice but unable to find anywhere suitable without having to sell a kidney to move to footballers haunts Bawtry etc. Decided to stay in Shorpe schools are better people are a lot more aimable and you get about third more house for your money. Only 25 mins from Goole so not much in it.

Goole is pretty pants, defo better off not living there!

Pardon me, but bollox!

It is what you make it. Sure, there are some pretty run down houses in Goole but there are some bloody gorgeous ones too, and a fair few new ones popping up.

The town is no great metropolis but it's a great night out and you rarely see trouble.

However... Hull 20 mins, Donny 20 mins, York 30 mins, Leeds 35 mins.

I live in a lovely little village just outside Goole and take the cars into town and leave the roof off no problem, even the Ferrari. I wouldn't do that in Donny.

Having said that, did someone mention "staying" in Scunny? If so, Goole is either a fast 25 mins on the motorway, or a REAL FUN 25 mins on the open and very twisty back road

Paddy - where are you working and are there any more jobs... i would dearly love to work in Goole. 5 mins to work cloud9

Live in LIncoln right now.

Its about an hours trip to Goole, which is a bit far really for eveyday commuting.

We are thinking about Shorpe as well.

I do an hour and a half each way to Manchester! Hence why I'd love to work in Goole, but the wife won't give me a job hehe

I like 'Burriana' commute to Manchester every day, but mines 1 hour 50 mintues from my door to my desk. nearly 4 hours commute everyday, luckily I can sleep on the train.

Burriana, which way do you go to get from your house to manchester in 1 hour 30 minutes, I trust you are keeping to the speed limit!!!!

ps, I'm looking to move to Slaithwaite, anyone from that area who can give me feedback on the area in general, good or bad?

I know, it's a right royal PITA, but it pays for nice toys!

The factory is 5 mins from home just on the outskirts of Goole. She runs a manufacturing Co with her two brothers called Tom Chambers. Horticultural ironwork mainly but they also have a big wood shop too.

Straight on the 62 at Goole and straight across to J20, down to Oldham Rd then around Mancunian way to Old Trafford. If I'm on the road at 06.00 it usually takes 1 hr 20 mins and leaving work at 18.00 the same back. Leave at say 07.00 and it can take nearly 2 hours.

You must live a long way the other side of Bradford for it to take so long ... or drive smack in middle of rush hour?

... and while I'm in a helpful mood We used to live just above Slaithwaite at Blackmoorfoot. Personally, I liked it and don't mind Huddersfield, although there are some pretty rundown areas as you drive out of town up towards Linthwaite/Blackmoorfoot. 35-40 mins into Manchester. Used to be a good night out around Huddersfield in the bars.
