I've driven a 993RS and been in a 996RS and they are a truly stunning car. Quite breathtaking. Very raw, very precise and a true DRIVERS car with a lovely stiff chassis and superb throttle response. I hope I can own an RS one day and if not then a GT3.No wait, Its an orange one.

I know I am biased after owning several 911's but although they retain a similar silloutte a lot of models appeal to me more than others and definately stand out better. It would be fair to say that it is one of the few shapes that have had that timeless look and haven't dated over the last 40 years. Can anyone else think of a Manufactor that has had the same success with a silloutte as Porsche with the 911? Interestingly the first time they deviated majorly from the coke bottle look was with the 996 and they were near crucified for it and mostly the model was a flop with 996's selling for less than 993's!

The thing about the VW and Clio etc IMO is although probably insanely fast they just weren't masculine enough. Still a little hatchback.
PH forums have had some great improvements lately. The best being when you click submit and can go to your latest post whereas in the past you'd go to the first page?

Still like them though.One thing I learned a while back from a fellow P-Car owner was to let other people drive our cars so that they can share in that experience. My staff drove my 100K 911, neighbours, friends. I will be the same with my Saker

Thats impressive, I find it hard enough letting other people drive my $10k car unlesss I really trust their driving. And its pretty much idiot-proof as well.
I know of someone who sold their much cherished Esprit V8 because the wife was too scared to drive it 
so he traded it for an Elise instead. He said no point having a super car if the partner cant enjoy itas well. Mind you the Elise is a beaufiul handling/looking car as we all know and they are both totally stoked with it.

Landrover (Defender)? Could this be more successful?AC Cobra (ok less 'successful' but still made in the same shape).
Every new 911 interation becomes less supercar looking and more mundane (IMHO). The exceptions are always the turbo and 'RS' versions. Having said that they seem to make all of them work rather well don't they?
I seem to remember reading somewhere that they have one of the biggest price mark-ups of any manufacturer - i.e. 911s cost a lot less to manufacture and a lot more to purchase than just about any other car. Makes sense I suppose.
I remember driving a 911 Carrera 4 in the early nineties - YAWN! The 928S4 I drove the same day was much more fun!
Landrover is a good one. Ac Cobra has retained it's shape whci is still awesome but it's more a replica and never evolved. Didn't they do a Shelby GR1 pr something? Any others guys?

I had also heard that the "modern factory" (after 964) is the highest profit Manufactorer. If you read the rise and fall story about Porsche it is actually quite interesting. They used to make or assenble everything in house and had huge stock levels. They went to people like the light manufactors, gave them a brief of what was required and had them assemble and stock all the parts in their factory. That was the turning point for Porsche.
I've never driven a C4 but I'm a rear wheel drive buff myself. I'd like to drive a decent 928 but never been around anyone who had one.
