Wiper woes... wisdom wanted

Anyone delved into the depths of their 'wheel box'... the inaccessible gubbins under the screen? Looks like I'm going to have to have the dash out of my Chim to replace/repair stripped gears therein ('lazy' n/s wiper and loads of graunching), and I'm just wondering what I'm in for. Seen the description in Bible Pt2 but could do with some additional pointers on whether bits available (donors?) and how much hacking is needed.

There is a lot of hacking involved.
The parts are virtually TVR specials.
Probably one of the worst jobs there is.

There's nothing like a bit of encouragement,eh? So, on a typical TVR scale of horrible to bleedin' awful, is it a 'manifold gaskets', a 'clutch master cyl', or a 'diff bushes'?
