Noise from in the boot
Discussion
Mine used to do that. The rear shocks had some movement in them, and each time they changed direction (as in up and down) they clonked - sounding like the jack had fallen over in the boot. Also the bushes were worn and it felt like the car slid sides about 6 inches if you hit a bump mid corner. Get your suspension checked.
There was me thinking I was imagining it!
I looked at a number of cars recently before buying my Chim 4.0HC. Some did it and others didn't. The one I bought does. Because I'm new to it and TVR's in general didn't know if it was 'normal'. I think the car feels a little 'loose' when you hit a bump mid corner as if it's moved side ways but hasn't. Anyone else get this?
Is it the bushes that I read so much about? I hope it's not the suspension as that sounds £££ expensive.

I just got my car back from Offords who were looking at a number of minor niggles, one of which was that there was a lot of 'clunky' banging noises from the suspension going over bumpy surfaces.
'They all do that sir'
Don't know if it's the same problem as yours, but with me it only happens when cold. Apparently most Chimaeras' rear suspension is clunky when cold - just takes a few miles to properly 'warm up'.
Don't know if that's helpful but it killed five minutes of my boring rainy Sunday

After hearing odd clunking noises I was looking underneith the car and noticed two or three holes in the GRP on each side just behind the wheel arch. Inside the holes on the drivers side were two disks of GRP, probably from cutouts - larger than the holes I could see through so no idea where they came from. Anyway, they were free to roll around so I gaffer-taped them together and to the bridge between the two holes I could see through... Didn't stop my noises but might be worth a look...
