2 problems - suspension & reverse

I have a Mini Cooper '51 which has a creaking n/s suspension sound and reverse is a real pain to engage. Anyone had similar problems ? plan A is to take it to a dealer but I like to get the spanners out & squirt WD40 at stuff whenever I can !!!

LOL, every Mini I have driven has been a bitch to get in reverse, especially from cold! Take it to the dealers is all I would say, or give the car a light rev when you rey to engage reverse.. sometimes helps!?

so after a visit to the local dealer, I have 2 answers :

1. 1 To fix the reversing problem, hold the clutch down for 3 sec's then move into reverse gear. Cost £0
2. 2 To fix the crunching N/S suspension you need some new parts. Cost £400 !

There was a recall for the gear selecter problem - should have been done on a 51 plate ages ago.

to get reverse if stiff put it into second before putting into reverse and it will go in a bit easier.

i am not kidding when i say i have begun to move backwards at traffic lights twice. mine is actually incredily easy to get into reverse from second..

went it was new it was an arse but very quickly loosened up..mind you mines an S so a completely different 'box..
