I didn't go but got the results from Bruce...

"Further development of the first Saker SVS Sprint 2000 proto.

This was my lovely yellow road/race car. Preparation for this event was extensive!

It entailed a complete repaint and signwriting, fitting 16" wheels with road legal Toyo tyres, to give extra ground clearance, the fitting of a sumpguard, an extra bit of rollcage and a general check-over and maintenance.

The driver for the day, the young gun "Sneaky" Thomas Good, who really loves these events, did a magnificent job, with a very brave Tyrone Norling navigating.

Maintaining a fast pace despite the unknown suitability of the car for this type of event and a start order of 35th, Thomas managed to keep the Saker on course and on the black stuff almost all the time.

We are rapt to see third over all and first in class against some very serious tarmac specialist teams."

That's what I hate about many of these so-called "Tarmac" rallys . . .

Too much Gravel ! ! !

Agreed! My pet hate "Sealed Hill climbs open to all" In a road/track car the first run is always the fastest as the rally cars spew gravel over the corners for following runs.

Those naughty boys and girls should be made to go back and sweep it all up, just like on a proper race track :grin:

There will be weighted cones on the tarmac/gravel apex of each bend.

Hit one cone and the time for that run will be voided.

Hit two cones and you will be excluded from the remainder of the event.

If the cones are full of concrete voiding the time may not be the only discouragement from hitting them...


In some ways I have nothing against people cutting corners to a degree anyway(rallying is about using the whole road after all), but I agree that it can give an unfair advantage to the 4wd cars in some situations.

I understand one of the primary issues in cutting corners is that it really pisses the councils off. Many of the road closure permits now have a reinstate clause that allows councils to pass the cost of repairs back to the organisers and is usually reflected in the regs - specifically "don't cut corners".

If its ok to cut corners by the regs then its to be expected. If its prohibited in the regs and you do it, you're a dick and a cheat - you also risk screwing it up for future events as road closures may be denied.

I should add that the car pictured will be coming up for sale sometime soon if the driver doesn't want it. 3rd overall was a good result given the competition.
