Prototype mini?

I saw a weird looking Mini on the M40 last week. It seemed to have van style rear doors with a wiper on each rear window. It had the black masking cloth over the back. We did get some pics which I dont think the driver / tester was to happy about, as when we initially saw him he was doing 60 mph but when he twigged we were snapping he took of like a scoulded cat. We did manage to keep up and overtake but we only got pics of the rear.

No sadly not. We saw last Sunday one being tested on the outskirts of Bath.

MINI Assist have had one of these on test since mid January. As I understand it the car is already on the price list in America.

Interestingly the R56 MINI also has a bigger central tunnel and a space for a rear differential. My guess is that a MINI 4x4 is coming soon.

i saw one of those driving through Geneva in March 2006... very bizzare! i did manage to get a shot of it on my camera phone but don't know how to post it up here...

can any of you who've seen it confirm that it only has one sucide door... on the RHD driver's side... .. i appreciate it'll be kerbside for LHD.. but it strikes me as being an own goal (especially with the BMC 'proper mini' BINI-haters).

Funnily enough I saw one on the M4 on saturday - in between the A34 and reading junctions.
