My wife is interested in a 6 month old Mini Cooper. It's on 16" run-flat tyres.

I drove it briefly and overall it felt very good, but I didn't pay much attention to the ride comfort.

However, several people have said that the ride can be tedious, particularly on the run-flats.

Is this true? Are the latest models better? Are there better tyre options?

Thanks

Most people I hear of say the 16" wheels are best for ride quyality on the mini's... that is with Run Flats.

One option would be to dump the run flats and get normaly tyres, that would certainly improve things. Just have to carry a can of tyre weld incase of a puncture.

I've recently bought a brand new Mini Cooper diesel which has 15" run flats as standard. I've done roughly 8000 miles so far - 2 trips to france of the most part and I've got to admit that as a driver, the ride was incredibly comfy and as a passenger, I've had no one complain that they felt uncomfortable. very economical too. roughly 450 on one tank.

I understand the accepted wisdom about the 16" wheels and non-run flat tyres.

Just wanted to check that this still applied to the new models?
